I grew up in the Midwest between Chicago and Indianapolis, raised by people who never met a catastrophe they couldn’t crack a joke about.

So unsurprisingly, my work is intimate and domestic with an apocalyptic imagination. I write and direct characters that are doing their best. It is not going well. It’s very funny and a bit tragic.

My films have played Tribeca, screened on HBO Max, and picked up an NAACP Image Award nomination along the way. But mostly what they've done is confirm the thing I suspected on all those CTA bus rides growing up — everybody's got a story, the system's got its hands in all of them, and the telling is where we survive it anyway.
